About 5 hours drive from Tokyo towards North, we arrive
the city of "NIKKO".
It is one of the most tourist attractions in Japan for
both Japanese and foreign tourists. The oldest and once the only hotel "KANAYA"
with it's ancient design and decorations is still there, and has
accommodated many dignitary visitors such as "ALBERT EINSTEIN" and
"HELEN KELLER". I enjoyed having lunch in it's fascinating old dining
room during my visit on Wednesday, 29th of October, 2008.
"NIKKO" is mostly famous for the Temples and Shrines that
were founded in a compound by the third "SHOGAN". Natural beauties that
includes waterfalls have added a lot of more essence to Nikko, beside
the magnificent ancient architectural designs of the Shrines that are
covered with remarkale wood carvings. The wood carved pictures of
animals and birds, are all parts of stories and words of wisdom.
The
compound of Temples and shrines in Nikko was officially registered as
the world's heritage seven years ago.
